HOW TO GET THE BEST FEEDBACK ON YOUR RECIPES OR FOOD CHOICES
This is a quick blog post to help RFN members get feedback on their recipes they share to the group. Posting all of the required information will help yoor post not get lost in the Facebook Group because people who were online ready to help did not have all the necessary information. The less time people have to spend asking for information results in more time spent on providing you feedback.
When Posting Recipes and Wanting Feedback:
PET SPECIES
PET AGE
PET WEIGHT
IF THE PET HAS ANY CONDITIONS
Note that pet’s with health conditions should seek out help from a vet and a reputable nutritionist. However, if your pet has food intolerances or things of that nature, you need to include that in your post. Ex: Can’t have chicken, can’t tolerate certain levels of fat, etc.
TOTAL CALORIES IN RECIPE & RECIPE GOAL
Recipe calories and also the recipe goal is important. Recipe goal is best based off of the history of the pet.
ALL INGREDIENTS IN THE RECIPE
POST SCREEN SHOTS OF "RECIPE BALANCER"
If you are using Cronometer or Pet Diet Designer- you should post screenshots of all the “bars” that show percentage of each nutrient.
PET DIET DESIGNER REPORTS
If you are using PDD, exporting recipe analysis by pet AND recipe nutrient report as PDFs and having them on hand will be useful for anybody who comments asking to see them. This provides nutrient amounts per grams etc. It also provides more fatty acid information as well as fiber levels.
When Posting Food (Commercial or General) and Wanting Feedback:
PET SPECIES

PET WEIGHT
PET ACTIVITY LEVEL
IF THE PET HAS ANY CONDITIONS

LINK OR PROVIDE ALL FOOD INFORMATION
Linking to the food in question is the best way to provide all information. If not possible, post photos or text of ingredients, calories, brand name, brand formula etc. Do not just say “Dog Chow Brand” say “Dog Chow Brand Adult Chicken and Rice Formula”
