Description
This course advances your clinical nutrition knowledge for a range of dietary responsive conditions including Renal Failure, Atopic Dermatitis, IBD, IBS, Pancreatitis, Liver disease (including liver shunts vs degenerative liver disease) and some types of urinary disorders. It will cover clinical guidelines and how to use them with workshop sessions for each condition to worth through case examples in a group environment.
The course will also cover the legalities and practicalities of formulating professionally for pets with medical conditions including deciding which aspects will require veterinary input and where to draw the line with medical advice if you are not a veterinarian.
Starts on Sun Jan 16, 2022 with sessions running to February 13th 2022.
Total class limited to TEN participants maximum.

Entry Requirements:
This course requires a basic nutrition knowledge base and at least some experience with basic formulation for healthy pets.
Veterinary and Non-Veterinary welcome.

Experience with the RFN sheet is helpful, but those formulating with other software are also accepted (e.g. Animal Diet Formulator). Please email if you are unsure whether you fulfil entry requirements.

Session 2: Clinical Formulation Workshop Renal and Liver
Session 3: Clinical Nutrition Overview Allergic Disease – IBD, Cutaneous Adverse Food Reactions, Atopic Dermatitis (skin barrier support)
Session 4: Clinical Formulation Allergic Disease Workshop
Session 5: Clinical Nutrition Overview Pancreatitis, Diabetes, Arthritis, Cognitive Dysfunction
Session 6: Formulation workshop Pancreatitis, Diabetes, Arthritis, Cognitive Dysfunction
Session 7: Clinical Nutrition – Urolithiasis
Session 8: Working in Clinical Nutrition – Communication with the primary veterinary surgeon, Reading Veterinary History and when to refer back to the vet, When to turn cases down
2 Supervision/Mentor Sessions Included: Each Attendee receives two x 1 hour mentor sessions (to be used within 6 months of the course completion). The topic of this session is flexible and could be used to practice formulating for clinical cases together or to discussing complex cases you have worked on.
The full course cost is £450.
